16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying:

18 “A (A)voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted,
Because they are no more.”

10 Then the angel said to them, (A)“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy (B)which will be to all people. 11 (C)For there is born to you this day in the city of David (D)a Savior, (E)who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a [a]manger.”

13 (F)And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “Glory(G) to God in the highest,
And on earth (H)peace, (I)goodwill[b] toward men!”
